[color=#3796e1][url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thylakoid]Thylakoids[/url][/color] are membrane-bound organelles found in real-world cyanobacteria and chloroplasts. They are typically disk-shaped and occur in "stacks" known as [i]grana[/i] (singular [i]granum[/i]).

Thylakoids contain at least 335 different types of protein, with around 42% of these being involved in photosynthesis. Three key protein complexes within thylakoids are photosystems I and II (absorbs light and uses the energy to catalyze chemical reactions as part of the thylakoid electron transport chain), the cytochrome b6f complex (catalyzes the transfer of electrons from plastoquinol to plastocyanin as part of the thylakoid electron transport chain), and ATP synthase (generates ATP using a proton gradient across a membrane).

[b]Thermosynthase[/b] is a fictional enzyme, but the process of [color=#3796e1][url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermosynthesis]thermosynthesis[/url][/color], while theoretical, is generally regarded as biologically plausible.

Thermosynthesis was first proposed by Anthonie Muller in a 1983 paper "Thermoelectric energy conversion could be an energy source of living organisms" (Physics Letters A, vol. 96, Issue 6, p. 319-321). Muller even suggested that thermosynthesis could have been a precursor to the earliest (sulfur-based) photosynthesis (see link: A Search For Thermosynthesis: Starvation Survival In Thermally Cycled Bacteria).

In earlier versions of Thrive this organelle produced ATP directly, however due to game balancing reasons it now produces glucose, but there's no explanation for where the carbon would come from for that. So that's one more Thrive sin against realism. This might get fixed in the far future if someone volunteers to implement an organelle that would turn ATP to glucose for longer term storage.

[b]Rusticyanins[/b] are proteins that can be found in the membranes of some bacteria and archaea. They oxidize [b]Iron[/b] in contact with the membrane, transferring electrons from it as part of an electron transport chain. The charge created on the membrane surface is then used to draw positive [b]Hydrogen[/b] ions into the cell. The extra electrons and ions help to convert spent [b]ADP[/b] molecules into new [b]ATP[/b] molecules and then reset the various proteins involved, so the process can start again.

Specializing a cell for just one type of organelle grants bioprocess speed bonuses.
The current bonus is {0}% (the bonus only appears after {3} organelles are placed and increases in strength until {4})
The current bonus is granted as there are {1} {2} organelles.
The bonus increases as more organelles of the most common type are placed.
If at the full strength size, other organelles need to be replaced with the common type to increase the bonus.
