To progress an endosymbiosis process, the target species needs to be engulfed to turn it into a temporary organelle (only one can be present at once in a single cell). Then progress is saved once you make it to the editor with the temporary organelle(s) present. Placing the finished endosymbiont can only be done in the cell editor tab.

Recovering from the strain also costs extra ATP until the bar is fully empty.

It is currently unclear how nuclei first evolved; some researchers have suggested that they might have been the product of endosymbiosis, perhaps having originated as an archaeal cell that invaded a bacterial cell. Others have proposed that they might have evolved from viruses, or perhaps simply as a result of a single cell forming a second membrane around itself, with the original cell becoming the nucleus.
