The original translation of "启蒙" (Mostly translated to Enlightenment) carries strong humanistic and educational overtones, which feels slightly out of place in a hardcore biological evolution simulator like Thrive. Changing it to the "觉醒" (Awakening) stage aligns much better with the trajectory of evolutionary neurology—marking the transition from basic environmental sensing to the emergence of self-awareness. Furthermore, it evokes a sense of sci-fi grandiosity that perfectly fits the game’s epic narrative of evolving from a single cell into an intelligent civilization.
